Book Review - The Circular Economy Handbook!

You have a reusable water bottle, right? Reusable utensils? For sure some reusable grocery bags, correct? Great job! But the world’s pollution problems do not start and stop with us, the consumer.

Since the ‘70s, businesses have pushed the responsibility of waste, pollution and its impacts onto individuals and their consumption habits. Over the decades, individual sustainability practices have become widely practiced throughout the world, yet we still see the same issues persist, and new ones appear, from waste and pollution.

In recent years, there has been a shift to hold companies accountable for the pollution from the sourcing, manufacturing and use of natural resources for the products they create. Almost three-quarters of greenhouse gas emissions since the late ‘80s have been linked to just 100 companies, not individuals.

The Circular Economy Handbook dives into the issues that industries face while transitioning to a true circular economy, where “waste” is eliminated. The Handbook offers an explanation of the obstacles that each industry faces and provides insight into how these companies can shift towards sustainability and how some have begun the process. Check your local library to borrow a book or find an e-book version! How will you engage in the Circular Economy?
