Did you know that in the weeks before Valentine’s Day, 60 cargo planes fly from Colombia and Ecuador to Miami every day carrying nothing but flowers?? ✈️ 💐
Those imported flowers require 114 million liters of fuel ⛽️ that releases 360,000 metric tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. 😮💨
This Valentine’s Day swap out those last minute throw-away gifts for something more sustainable and intentional:
🌱 Gift a propagated plants in a cute repurposed glass jar or thrifted vase.
🪴 Gift a cute houseplant bought from a local nursery or vendor (or from your own propagations).
🚿 Gift a shower bundle of locally sourced eucalyptus, rosemary and/or lavender. (Go foraging for eucalyptus and wild flowers if you can).
🍪 Go to your local Farmer’s Market and support your local vendors! They often sell baked goods, soaps 🧼, candles 🕯️, jewelry, plants and flowers!
🌾 Gift a DIY native seed bomb or a jar of seeds. Hit up your local seed bank, community garden or # BuyNothingGroup 🫶🏽
